Did you know that it is nutritionally recommended that you take breakfast within two hours of waking up?

Therefore, next time you skip breakfast in the panic of lateness and rush to beat time remember; skipping breakfast can set you in trouble.

Many keep looking for the simplest ideas and menus yet breakfast can be the easiest meal to make provided you have the core types of food to inlcude in your dish.

Why you should NOT skip breakfast

  • Breakfast provides energy for the day. Breakfast help in supplying glucose to the tissues and muscles after along fast, this helps you keep going without fatigue.
  • Breakfast help in maintaining or reducing weight because you will not tend to over eat later to compensate for the skipped meal. Maintaining a healthy weight prevents obesity which can result to hypertension and diabetes.
  • You are less likely to develop type two diabetes because skipping breakfast is linked to insulin resistance which is a main feature of type 2 diabetes.
  • Drink a glass of warm water upon waking up, preferably with juice of one lemon, this way your gut is cleaned out of toxins and it makes it ready for the foods you have for your breakfast resulting in better metabolism throughout the day.
  • Always include carbohydrates in your breakfast. These are essential for healthy brain functioning. By consuming a high-quality breakfast to start your day, you can improve your memory and concentration levels, as well as improve your mood and lower stress.
