Honey is one of the nutritious sweeteners. It is not only a sweetener but it also has medicinal values but for those who are allergic to honey there are other healthy alternatives with nutritional advantage

Honey alternatives

  1. Maple syrup. Maple syrup has a flavor close to that of honey it is very rich in zinc and other trace nutrients.
  2. Brown Sugar. Genuine brown sugar is obtained through crystallization of sugarcane juice without refining it further. It is rich in calcium, iron and B complex vitamins
  3. Molasses. It is unprocessed sugar in liquid form it is also very nutritious.

 Egg alternatives

 There are two types of egg substitutes

  1. Complete substitutes these are soy or milk based or corn oil base. These substitute do not contain any egg
  2. Partial substitutes will contain egg white but not the yolk, which contain cholesterol.

The above substitutes work as well as eggs due to their binding and emulsifying qualities, for most culinary application including omelets and soufflés.

Nuts alternatives

  1. Seeds of pumpkin, sunflower, melon, sesame can serve as substitute for nuts especially for those people who are allergic to nuts. They are rich in minerals and vitamins too.
  2. Soybeans and soybean products. Soybean is very rich in protein and can serve as an alternative for those people allergic to nut or to animal protein.
